FDIC International 2015 Preview

FDIC international

51 days! until the greatest show in the fire service kicks off! 51 days until thousands of firefighters make the annual pilgrimage to Indianapolis to learn, share, and of course recharge the brotherhood and batteries of our fire service passion!

FDIC is something I look forward to every year, and every year under the direction of Pennwell Publishing, Fire Engineering, and Bobby Halton it keeps getting better and better. One thing you need to know is that FDIC is now FDIC International. While the name may have had an upgrade you can still expect some of the best Hands On Training, Workshops, Classroom Sessions, and after hours events in the world! This FDIC will be a little different for me as I will get there on Tuesday and be leaving early Friday morning in order to be at the National Fire Academy by Sunday for my first session of the new Managing Fire Officer Program. While I hate cutting my visit short, I plan on making the most out of my time in INDY!

First off I will be teaching my program “Are You Ready for the Firefighter Cardiac Arrest” In a classroom session this year. It is a shorter version of my Medical Mayday program which can be a 4 hour or 8 hour program. Here is a preview,

I hope you will join me for this class, or if your interested contact me at [email protected] so I can bring the program to your department.

Now I am not the only one in my house teaching a class at FDIC International. My wife Karen the author of the Fire Engineering Books “Incident Command For EMS” is teaching a class based on her book “EMS and ICS: Managing The Mass Casualty Incident” here is a preview

If you are and EMS provider, or EMS is something your department does you need to buy the book and come to this class!

Now if that was not enough, there are hundreds of other classes being taught by the best fire service instructors in the WORLD! Ryan Pennington will be presenting his Fighting Fires in Hoarder Homes class which is a must see! Plus all of the other great ones you read about Lasky, Salka, Brunacini, Fields, Naum, Kerber, and MORE!

But that is not all! When the classes end the learning and fun continue.

Make Sure you check out the INDY Metro FOOLS Brotherhood Bash on Wednesday Night, The Courage and Valor 5k and Stop Drop and Rock and Roll on Thursday, The 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb and Indy Firefighters Union Open House on Friday and so much more! http://www.fdic.com/special-events.html

Additionally on Friday at the Crane Bay check out INDY on Fire hosted by Fiefighterwife.com, The Fire Critic, The Iron Fireman, and The Model City Fighter respectfully known as Lori Mercer, Rhett Flietz, Willie Wines, and Andrew Catron. If this years is anything like last years it will be a BLAST! Check out the FACEBOOK page for all the info https://www.facebook.com/events/366337746891779

As I said, it will be a shorter than normal week for me this year but I will be teaching, and I will be attending the FOOLS Bash, and 5k. As well as taking classes, and around town so if you see me say hey, or follow me on twitter and instagram @averagejakeff to find out what I am doing at the conference or any time.

I hope to see you in INDY, and as usual Thanks for reading, spread the word, and STAY SAFE!
