Elevator Rescue Class

Yesterday I had the chance to attend an Elevator Rescue Class put on by “Response Ready” https://www.facebook.com/pages/Response-Ready-LLC/138406339692022

Response Ready is a group of Officers, and Fireman from the City of Richmond (Virginia) and a few from Chesterfield County (Virginia) who have formed a group and began teaching classes here in the Commonwealth. They hosted a forcible entry academy back in June with great reviews. When they offered and elevator class I was eager to attend.

Elevators are one of those low-frequency, high impact things for us. We have them and usually they are working normally. However when they malfunction and we have to integrate with them it can put us in a very large danger zone, and handling these incidents efficiently yet safely can be a challenge.

This class did not disappoint, it was a great mix of review, and new information, with a TON of hands on opportunities. One of the best things is that there was no ego from the instructors, they shared what they knew, and where open to new ideas and very amenable to trying things the students suggested. In the end everyone benefitted from the vast knowledge these guys had about elevators, and the sharing of ideas and discussion from the students it was a win win. We even got a little forcible entry in while we had some down time. Here are a few pics and a video from the class.

Overall it was a great day of training, and I will be looking for more chances to train with Response Ready in the future. The link above takes you to their face book page, be sure to like them so you will get updates with all they have going on.

As usual thanks for reading, spread the word, and STAY SAFE!
