header-new

It has been announced via the Richmond Remembers 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/pages/Richmond-Remembers-9-11-Stairclimb/211763862249836 That the 3rd Annual Richmond Va 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb will be Sunday September 8th 2013! More details are to follow.

I have had the honor of participating in the previous 2 years climbs and I will be signing up the second that you are able for this years. It is important to me that we remember the sacrifice of the 343 fireman that were murdered by faceless cowards on 9/11/01. When that tragedy happened we all made a promise to “Never Forget” the best way to pay tribute to them and to truly never forget is to climb. It is the ultimate tribute and show of respect, you literally get to walk the walk of brotherhood, pride and tradition.

Take a look at my blogs from my previous climbs:

If you are still not convinced take a look at this video from Brian Brush from www.fireservicewarrior.com

I know I have shown this video before, but I have never found a better explanation on why we should all be climbing. It is our chance to honor the fallen, and make a difference in the lives of the families they left behind.

If you have never done one come on down to Richmond and climb with us, it is an experience like no other. If you’re not going to join us then find a climb near you  http://www.9-11stairclimb.com/

If your worried about your fitness level remember it is not a race it is a tribute. Some people climb in shorts, other climb in turnout gear and SCBA, no matter what you chose the important thing is that you show up and climb, the rest is just tinsel and mirrors. Additionally if you are close to the Richmond area and want to climb but are worried email me at [email protected] tweet me @averagejakeff or drop me a line in the comments section, include your contact info and I will set up a time we can work out together! So no excuses lets get this climb to over 343 climbers again and make the greatest tribute we can possibly create for the 343.

As usual thanks for reading, spread the word, and STAY SAFE!
