I know I put this video up last year, but it really is my favorite Thanksgiving firehouse scene. It truly embodies the spirit, and brotherhood that should be prevalent in EVERY firehouse in the world.
Sadly that’s not the case, but tomorrow on thanksgiving if you’re pulling a tour make a point to do the right thing for your brothers. Get to work early so that you can get the guys not working home to their families, put your differences aside and sit down to have an enjoyable Thanksgiving dinner.
If your off take a complete break from everything fire service and make sure you let your families, and people you care about know how much you care about them, and how much you know and recognize the sacrifice they make everyday so that you can do the best job in the world.
For me I am lucky enough (after spending last Thanksgiving on shift) to be off. So me and my oldest son will be in the woods bright an early hunting. We are only going to hunt half a day so that we can come back here and help my wife finish up cooking and cleaning for our HUGE dinner (we have aprox. 10 people coming over). It should be a blast.
So from all of us here at Average Jake to all of you and your families. Have a great and memorable Thanksgiving holiday!
