Well this week has been and is going to continue to be very very busy. Monday I had the first night of NFA Leadership 3 class, tonite is the second night. Working 24 hour tours, Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday with on duty Swift Water Rescue training from 0800-1600 Thursday, with several real life errands on Friday and in the middle of the other days (gym, doctors appointments, etc.) You can see I have got a lot on my plate, so posting may be at a minimum.
I did want to take some time today though to remind everyone in just over a month will be the 9-11 Memorial Stair Climb here in Richmond Va.
The goal is to have 343 climbers carrying pictures of a firefighter who was murdered in the terrorist attacks of 9-11 at the World Trade Center. I have heard that so far for Richmond there are only 90 climbers signed up. Bottom line is WE NEED MORE!!!! Remember we all promised to never forget the sacrifice that those 343 firemen made on that day. It’s easy to say that you have not forgotten, but those are just words. Show you have not forgotten by signing up and climbing the 110 stories and honor the memory of our brothers. There is ZERO excuse to not participate in this event. In honesty with all the firemen here in the Richmond area we should have to be turning people away not begging people to come! Are you are fireman or just a guy who likes to wear the shirt and ride the fire truck?
Remember it is not a race it is a tribute it is not about finishing first, or last it is just about finishing and experiencing just a little bit of the sacrifice that the 343 went through in order to honor them.
If you feel like your fitness level is not what it should be and that’s what is holding you back, YOU STILL HAVE TIME! Start training today and you will no doubt be able to complete the climb. If you live in the Metro Richmond area contact me and I will come and train with you! Do not let something that you can control (your fitness level) keep you from participating in this once and a lifetime event. There will probably be many more Stair Climbs but there is only 1 10 year anniversary.
So go to your computer and go here http://www.9-11stairclimb.com/events.html#VA and sign up today! Then get off of your computer, get on your work out clothes and START TRAINING!
Do not forget to follow along on twitter, www.twitter.com/averagejakeff
Hopefully I will get some pictures during our training tomorrow and put them up. Until then as usual thanks for reading, spread the word, and STAY SAFE!
Oh yea and in case you did not get the point, sign up for the Stair Climb! I let one pass me by at FDIC and regret it, do not let that happen to you!
